Our Story

From humble beginnings, Galvatech has grown into one of South Africa’s most advanced corrosion protection specialists and the only lead-free galvanizer in the country. What makes our story truly unique is that Galvatech is a family business jointly owned by three families who have grown together for more than 30 years. Through shared values, commitment, and a hands-on approach, these families built a company that blends tradition, integrity, and modern engineering excellence.

Today, the next generation has begun to take the lead, ensuring that the legacy continues. With the original founders still actively involved in the background, sharing their wealth of experience and guidance, Galvatech confidently moves into a new era of innovation and sustainable growth.

Our facility in Bellville South Industrial, Cape Town was purpose-built to embody three decades of experience and technical expertise. The plant features a 14-metre zinc kettle with an encapsulated pre-treatment line, a world-class scrubber and white-fume extraction system, and the largest lay-down area of any galvanizer in the Western Cape. This makes us ideally suited to handle everything from small domestic items to major infrastructure projects, including solar farms and transmission lines.

Our core business remains hot-dip galvanizing, but our strength lies in offering multiple coating systems under one roof. Clients can combine services such as grit and shot blasting, industrial spray painting, zinc metal spraying, and a full range of powder coating, including Epoxy, PVC, and Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE). This “one-stop-shop” approach allows us to streamline workflows, shorten lead times, and maintain complete quality control from start to finish.

In 2025, we commissioned a 612.5 kWP photovoltaic solar system at the Cape Town plant. This investment in renewable energy has already begun to reduce our carbon footprint and reinforces our long-term commitment to sustainable manufacturing. Together with our closed-loop water system and advanced air emission controls, Galvatech continues to lead in responsible corrosion protection.

To further extend our reach and improve client convenience, we recently established a galvanising depot in George to service the Southern Cape region, including Mossel Bay, George, Knysna, and surrounding areas. The depot offers local collection and delivery services, ensuring that customers in the region enjoy the same quality and reliability that Galvatech is known for throughout South Africa.

While we are certified to produce coatings compliant with SANS 121 / ISO 1461, our focus goes beyond compliance. Through ongoing research and innovation, we have developed a galvanized coating that is not only durable and consistent but also visually distinctive “spangle” — a hallmark of the Galvatech standard.
